Sleep Study (or lets play ‘annoy the baby’)

Phoenix had her first sleep study last week. If you don’t know what happens during a sleep study let me tell you (and just to let you know there isn’t much sleeping). First, they places about 30 wires (from head to toe) on a 7 month old baby. Second, they expect her to fall asleep with said wires on. Third, they measure her sleep and breathing patterns during the night. Fourth, they wake you up at 6 am (after very little sleep) and tell you to pack your bags and get out! Okay, they say that much nicer. . . but at 6 in the morning nothing sounds nice.

Since, Phoenix sweats in her sleep they had to keep coming in and adjusting her wires. Needless to say, she didn’t get a very good night sleep which makes for a grumpy baby.

Phoenix did pretty well during the set up, which takes an hour and half! She only got cranky for the last 5ish wires. They did a great  job of keeping her distracted…they had some ladies come in and sings songs, blow bubbles and even let her play games on their tablet! Now she is addicted to ‘Peekaboo Barn.’ Awesome.

Oh! One more thing!! They put this pasty glue gunk on her head to make the wires stick . . . lets just say I am happy that she likes baths because it was no fun getting that out! Sleepy baby + Mom messing with glue gunk in hair = very annoyed Phoenix.

Taking a selfie while we wait.

Hey Mom!

Hey Mom!

Hush now, my baby
Be still love, don’t cry
Sleep like you’re rocked by the stream
Sleep and remember
My lullaby
And I’ll be with you when you dream

Drift on a river
That flows through my arms
Drift as I’m singing to you
I see you smiling
So peaceful and calm
And holding you, I’m smiling, too
Here in my arms
Safe from all harm
Holding you, I’m smiling, too

Hush now, my baby
Be still, love, don’t cry
Sleep like you’re rocked by the stream
Sleep and remember this river lullaby
And I’ll be with you when you dream
I’ll be with you when you dream

Love the photos. P’s hair is getting so long. It looks super trendy! Sorry about the rough night. Hope you get some great sleep and great info from the study.
